in franz pumaren's absence in two of dlsu's games, one against ust and one against adu, i got to know coach jack santiago. there's always been a fear of pumaren leaving the green squad, but whoever was qualified to fill his shoes? these two games were not easy victories for the archers. dlsu's game vs ust is one of the best games i've seen, the game tied, at 5.5 seconds left, ball at dlsu's possesion. la revilla blazed by most of the ust defenders and made an unsuccessful lay up. maoui villanueva was at the right place at the right time and tipped the ball into the basket just in the nick of time. i thought i was going to have a heart attack. that game showed that our rookies have heart. dlsu's game vs adu was definitely not a walk in the park. they had to have an extra five minutes to settle it. in the dlsu vs ust game, studio 23 showed the green archers' huddle during the last few seconds of the game. tension was in the air, and they were all waiting for what coach jack had to say. dead silence. then he'd call out a player. james. james. la. la. (vs adu, he called out bader. badeer, really.) then he'd call out a play. form a line. screen. hard. go hard. as a result of too much nervousness, i actually had to laugh. i didn't really understand what the play was until they executed it. coach jack was the-la-salle-community-at-the-edge-of-their-seats-hearts-beating-out-of-their-chests personified. i had to give it to him, at crunch time, he had the best play. so boys, on tomorrow's play-off game vs feu: go hard. ANIMO LA SALLE!!!
**just had to comment: i couldn't believe there were rumors that jv sold that last game. to those who speculated that, how dare you? shame on you. shame on you all. keep the faith. **
